BACK THEN – THE CELEBRATION OF THE SARA QUADS

ImageImageImage

FROM THE SEPTEMBER 1950 WOMENS WEEKLY.

I’ve popped these shots of BELLINGEN CELEBRATES in. Not that they were taken at Raleigh but it would have been nearby. Maybe the Memorial Hall in Bellingen. Reason I’ve posted them is that they show another view of community life. Back then.

As well as that, I think the formidable Mrs Greer is a good example for our  own Musos of the 21st Century.

I LOVE country halls.

BACK THEN.

There was a time-a long time- when crossing the Bellinger River meant a ride on the Punt. We have bridges now but there was a romance to the Punt. My sister, well she married a Raleigh boy and they bought a house in Urunga . Thing is, we were told that the house was brought across the river from Raleigh in two parts, on punts. RRRR would have liked to have seen that.
