IT IS TODAY

A few clouds coming across but its not as cold as it could be. We have lost the VAS BROS to a gig in Bellingen and hear tell the B and P s are doing Dorrigo but we have
Izzy with his bass rig and backup guitar plus kazoo,
Warren Cox on guitarand hopefully colourfully attired as he was last month,
Matt preo doing a half hour slot.
Vanessa is doing a surg club meeting then bringing her trusty UKE over.
Eda and Peter are doing the ice cream run to back up the odd assortment of food we have ready for the splitz.
Fingers are crossed for Sandy’s lad who’e been a bit crook. SANDRA and IZ have 5 banana songs up their sarongs and ready to go.
GREG GEISLER is bringing his drum kit and CHRIS.
We are expecting Simon and Louise.
George G says he will be there and I have hopes of Robert D from Eden.
Kath and Gina are coming with their beautiful voices and ROBERT PEDDIE from Akabella.
I’ll get back to you with details later.

And Norm Heywood is a likely photographer. Lets see who the audience is. Yrs Truly. RRRR

BANANA SUNDAE 28 JULY 2013 SUNDAY NOON TILL 5

BANANA SUNDAE

SANDY AND IZZY have 5 or so tropical songs underway and Vanessa has been in rehearsal. If the VAS aren’t tied up working, they are bringing Anton to do his ARIBA and he has suggested some LIMBO.

Little ones are welcome.

Thanks to ROOTS RECORDS in BELLINGEN for the new UKULELE.

MATT PREO is coming down with Ree from Coffs Harbour way and Our well loved ROBERT PEDDIE has a couple of new songs an I think we might be lucky enough to have Rgina Saunders with us again.

There’s spots for Musicians of any species. Just let IZZY know on 0414627125, leave a message on FB  or show up on the day.

GREG GEISLER is leaving his drum kit at home and bringing CONGAS to catch the tropical atmosphere. A few others are simmering behind the scenes and I have hopes of Kati B to keep a watch on my Banana Sundae making. Maybe we will strike it lucky with Norm the photographer again. He’s a gem as is RUTH FAHEY.

There’s a playground for kids and a VERY informal atmosphere. The RALEIGH WINERY is just across the road for anyone desiring real wine and/or real coffee.

The music is free and so is the tea and coffee . Bring a plate and join us.

LACK OF BANANAS

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Went North of Coffs today in search of BANANA motivation. Had a bit of a shock on the way home ! Its sent Izzy into the MUSIC ROOM playing HOT BANANAS. 2more weeks till Banana Sundae. Sandra and Izzy ae rehearsing Banana Songs tomorrow.Vanessa has something in mind- always dangerous territory. The VAS BROS know a good few tropical topical songs with Anton doing a fine ARIBA.
Now , all we need is some more MUSOS, AN AUDIENCE, some banana cooks and sundae makers, loyal photographers AND some bananas. Wouldn’t mind some brightly coloured garments and some dancers as well as some decorations, In the meantime, Anton is speaking of the LIMBO. Here’s today’s pics.

VANESSA tells me she is bringing a few UKE players on the 2th July to play some tropical summery songs. That cheers me up after today’s experience. Yours R.R.R.R

BACK THEN – THE CELEBRATION OF THE SARA QUADS

ImageImageImage

FROM THE SEPTEMBER 1950 WOMENS WEEKLY.

I’ve popped these shots of BELLINGEN CELEBRATES in. Not that they were taken at Raleigh but it would have been nearby. Maybe the Memorial Hall in Bellingen. Reason I’ve posted them is that they show another view of community life. Back then.

As well as that, I think the formidable Mrs Greer is a good example for our  own Musos of the 21st Century.

I LOVE country halls.

BACK THEN

BACK THEN.

There was a time-a long time- when crossing the Bellinger River meant a ride on the Punt. We have bridges now but there was a romance to the Punt. My sister, well she married a Raleigh boy and they bought a house in Urunga . Thing is, we were told that the house was brought across the river from Raleigh in two parts, on punts. RRRR would have liked to have seen that.
